Frequently asked questions

Getting started

Q. How do I apply for an account with OCS Worldwide?
A. To apply for an OCS Worldwide account, simply complete the online account application and an OCS Worldwide representative will call you within 24 hours, or alternatively you can also call 0845 678 9800 to set up your OCS Worldwide account.
Q. Is there any charge for an OCS Worldwide collection?
A. There is no charge for an OCS Worldwide collection from your business address except where your business address is in a remote location, out of our hand collection/delivery area. A surcharge will be added to a collection if requested from anywhere other than your business address.
Q. What methods of payment can I use?
A. We encourage anyone who ships frequently to open an account. This offers negotiated price savings and the opportunity to pay by monthly invoice (30 days credit). Occasional shippers can pay by credit card, cheque or cash.
Q. How long do I have to cancel a collection after it's been submitted?
A. You can cancel a collection at any time before the driver arrives.
Q. If I have other collection questions, can you help me?
A. For additional collection information, please contact your local OCS Worldwide Customer Service Centre by calling 0845 678 9800 or via our contact us page.
Q. When will my shipment arrive?
A. OCS Worldwide’s online tracking system can provide up-to-date information on your shipment location. If you require a timed service, and are shipping to a UK destination, we can accommodate via a range of time definite services.
Q. What is the maximum size of package I can send?
A. For purely operational reasons, we ask that a shipment not exceed 100 cm in any two dimensions. However, we will be pleased to advise you on, and arrange carriage of larger items. Additionally, for the safety of our couriers, we require notification of shipments over 1.2m and 32kg in weight.

Import/Export

Q. What is customs value and how do I determine it?
A. The customs value of your shipment determines how much import duty you will have to pay. The customs value of your shipment should be the shipment's net value.
Q. Our company would like to begin exporting products to several countries. As we have no previous experience of doing this, can OCS Worldwide advise us?
A. Of course, OCS Worldwide has an unrivalled experience of international shipping. Please contact your local OCS Worldwide customer service department via our contact us page or by telephone on 0845 678 9800, where we will be waiting to discuss your needs.

Tracking

Q. When I enter the Courier Waybill (CWB) number the tracking does not work?
A. Our tracking system is only designed to recognise the Courier Waybill (CWB) number. This number will always start with the numbers 84 from the UK, the number must be entered without hyphens.
Q. When I track my Courier Waybill (CWB) numbers I’m asked to contact Customer Service?
A. There may be a reason why the system can not provide the requested information and in this instance we ask that you call our Customer Service department on 0845 678 9800, or email them at customer.services@ocsworldwide.co.uk They will then investigate on your behalf.
Q. I do not have my Courier Waybill (CWB) number, is it possible to track my shipment?
A. While we strongly advise you to make a record of your Courier Waybill number, it is possible to track your shipment without it under certain conditions. If you have the shipper's reference number, you can contact Customer Service who may be able to help you.
Q. How many shipments can I track at one time?
A. On-line Tracking allows you to track one shipment at a time and using OCS Worldwide ePOD (epod@ocsworldwide.co.uk) you are able to track up to 10 shipments at a time.

Privacy

Q. What information does OCS Worldwide's web site keep on visitors?
A. The OCS Worldwide server, as almost all others on the Internet, stores a list of visits to it. We use this list to assess which are the most popular sections of our site and to assist us in improving the navigation and content. This file, called an access-log, records some very basic information about you: the date and time of visit; what pages of our site you looked at; the address of the web site from which you linked to ocsworldwide.co.uk; what kind of web browser you are using; and your IP address.
This log cannot identify your e-mail address or any other personal information. OCS Worldwide does not use automatic systems to associate your IP number to any other information you give us while using our sites, and will not do so manually unless special circumstances require such an action.
Q. Does OCS Worldwide request any personal information?
A. Some features of our site require you to provide personal information. The site 'personalisation' feature records very basic information about you in a cookie, to make the completion of forms on our web sites easier for you. This information is not stored by OCS Worldwide; instead it is retained on your own machine in a small text file called a cookie. Other sections of the site, such as the book a collection request, may also hold your information in a cookie in order to prevent you having to type the same information into the form time and time again. This information will not be transmitted to OCS Worldwide until you submit your collection request.
Other sections of the OCS Worldwide web site, such as supply ordering, may require you to hold an OCS Worldwide account. In this case, OCS Worldwide will hold your details on record for accounting purposes. Other users will not be able to access your information, even if they know the account number, without a password. This password is always transmitted between OCS Worldwide and your web browser using a secure connection.
Q. Can cookies be removed from my hard drive?
A. Yes, you can easily remove any cookie from your machine. Exactly how you do it depends on which web browser you use. Both Internet Explorer and Netscape have made the process easier on their most recent versions. Please check with your browser provider for more information on removing cookies.
You can also configure your web browser so that cookies are not saved at all, but this may reduce the functionality you get from some web sites, and prevent you accessing others at all. Cookies are used on ocsworldwide.co.uk to make it easier to use the site, however you can use ocsworldwide.co.uk without.
