DHL Express suspends shipments to/from Canada

Unifor, a trade union in Canada, representing over 2,100 DHL Express workers, has called for industrial action amongst its members. Potential Delivery Delays in the Netherlands (June 22-27, 2025)

Next week, The Hague will host the NATO Summit on June 24th and 25th. This major international event requires extensive security measures.

To ensure a smooth experience for our customers, please be aware of the following:

When: Saturday, June 22nd to Thursday, June 27th.
Where: Primarily affecting areas in and around The Hague and Schiphol Airport.

Disruption and Service Suspension in the Middle East

Further to our notification regarding Israel and due to recent developments in the Middle East, we have been advised that the airspace over several countries, including Israel, Jordan, Iran, and Lebanon, is currently closed. Our service to these locations is therefore suspended, including any parcel that might be in transit. The safety of your customers parcels is our highest priority and we are developing our operations in response to these regional events.

As a result, you may also experience potential delays on parcels to the following destinations:

Armenia

Egypt
Ghana
Iraq
Ivory Coast

Service Suspended – Israel

Service Suspended in Israel Amidst Declared State of Emergency

Effective immediately, all services to Israel have been suspended until further notice, following a declaration of a special state of emergency by the Israeli government on 13th June 2025.

This decision comes as all national infrastructure transitions to an emergency footing. Civilian movement and activities are currently restricted, with citizens instructed to remain in protected areas. Public gatherings have been prohibited.

In line with the government’s directive, all transportation services, including flights, have been halted. Operations at the nation’s ports are also suspended as part of the nationwide security measures.

Eid Al Adha – Eid Mubarak!

The Eid Al Adha holidays commence on Thursday, the 5th June 2025 and continue through to Sunday 8th June 2025. There will be limited deliveries within GCC countries during this time, with possible delays for a further three days as operations and service return to normal.

US Tariff Update – US Federal Appeals Court overturns lower court decision on tariffs

Wednesday 28th May 2025, the US Court of International Trade stated that President Trump had overstepped his authority and the administrations tariffs were unlawful. (Cars, Steel and Aluminium were unaffected by this ruling)

Thursday 29th May 2025, the US Federal Appeals Court granted the Trump Administration a temporary suspension on the lower court’s ruling, meaning that the tariff policy was reinstated, albeit until 5th June 2025, the date of the next hearing.

Peter Navarro, one of the Presidents trade advisors, told reporters on Thursday 29th, “You can assume that even if we lose, we will do it another way.”

The president could also invoke Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974, which he invoked for his first-term tariffs on China.

This is a developing situation, but what we know so far.

A US federal court has blocked President Donald Trump’s sweeping tariffs, in a major blow to a key part of his economic plan.

The Court of International Trade ruled that an emergency law invoked by the White House does not give the president unilateral authority to impose tariffs on nearly every country.

The Manhattan-based court said the US Constitution gives Congress exclusive powers to regulate commerce with other nations and this is not superseded by the president’s remit to safeguard the economy.
