USA UPDATE THEIR IMPORT DI MINIMIS
In January 2025, US Customs will be improving their ability to monitor imports under the $800 di minimis scheme.
Currently the di minimis is measured per flight. If a recipient has 2 orders on the same flight, where the combined value exceeding $800, duty becomes payable.
From January 11th, rather than per flight, the $800 di minimus value will be the daily limit, via all US import channels excluding post.
The impact on eCommerce should be negligible, but if a retailer has any “resellers” who might also be buying from multiple brands, they could exceed their daily limit. If this is the case, when clearance is submitted in their name and they have already hit or exceeded the daily $800 di minimus, duty would become payable on all imports that day.
