Head of Cross-Border Trade & Customer Advisory
OCS is strengthening its customer-facing cross-border trade advisory capability and we are looking for someone who understands how ecommerce customs rules actually work at parcel and data level and who would like to become a recognised authority within a growing international distribution business.
As our Head of Cross-Border Trade & Customer Advisory, you’d be working to support the development of our international ecommerce distribution network, with a focus on service innovation and regulatory compliance.
Location: OCS Worldwide HQ, Colnbrook (Heathrow) – Reporting to: Operations Director (with direct high-visibility and a dotted line to the Board and Shareholders). Some international travel will be required.
The Mission: We are looking for a relentless, dynamic negotiator who never settles for second best. You are obsessed with doing things the right way—safeguarding strict regulatory compliance without ever sacrificing speed, service innovation, or bottom-line value.
International trade mechanisms are evolving at a breakneck pace. OCS Worldwide is innovative and nimble, and we need a commercially aggressive, razor-sharp specialist to spearhead our international eCommerce distribution network. Your goal is clear: build ironclad, high-value relationships globally, drive maximum commercial advantage, and ensure our solutions strictly adhere to the latest international regulations to protect smooth consumer delivery.
Essential Knowledge:
- Practical cross-border ecommerce parcel experience.
- UK export requirements and customs data.
- EU B2C and B2B2C models, including IOSS, OSS, import VAT, duties, DDP and fiscal representation.
- US ecommerce imports, including the current post-de-minimis environment, transfer structures, valuation, importer-of-record responsibilities and clearance data.
- Commercial invoices, commodity classification, origin, valuation and Incoterms.
- Ability to convert regulations into data specifications, SOPs and operational processes.
- Experience advising customers and challenging an unsuitable customer proposal.
- Ability to explain complex matters to non-specialists.
Desirable Knowledge, but we can develop the missing bits!
- Australia, Canada and other important OCS managed markets.
- Postal processes and UPU rules.
- Product-specific regulations.
- Formal training or presentation qualifications.
- Marketing content, webinars and website articles.
You don’t need to know everything in one go, we are looking for someone with strong UK/EU/US practical experience and the ability to research properly. Don’t be a “global expert” whose knowledge is broad but whose detail is shallow.
