Navigating the New US Trading Tariffs – Insights from Our Operations Director

We’re now over a month away from the new US trading tariffs, and as our operations team has had a chance to draw a breath, we thought it would be great to sit down with our Operations Director, Roberto Cinti , and get his take on all things operations, change, eCommerce and, most importantly, OCS’s customers.


What was the most significant challenge you faced when realigning your e-commerce shipping strategy to the USA, and how did you shape the new processes?

At OCS we’re very quick to change a process if required — be it on behalf of the customer or on a grander scale like Brexit or the changes to the US De Minimis. We have a very experienced and long-standing team backed by great systems that are fluid when it comes to handling these kinds of challenges.

The biggest challenge in this project was ensuring business as usual for our clients and their customers. We achieved this, as we did with Brexit, and exported on day one of the new rules.

This success came from following the advice of our US lawyers, crunching the data with our partners, and focusing on facts — not hearsay on the internet, which led many others to backtrack their information before August 29th.
